BLACKSBURG – Following No. 3 Virginia Tech softball's 5-4 victory over Miami (Ohio) in the Blacksburg Regional on late Saturday night, head coach Pete D'Amour and catcher Mackenzie Lawter met with the media. For what they had to say:

HEAD COACH PETE D'AMOUR

Opening Statement:
"A win's a win. We'll go again in a couple of hours. That's my opening statement."

CATCHER MACKENZIE LAWTER

On preparing to go against Kentucky again:

"I think we just [have] to have an approach when we go to the plate – just one game at a time, one pitch at a time, with not thinking too far in advance. So, I think that's got to be our mindset going in. We can't think about what happened today."

On confidence built after winning a must-win contest:
"Well, we had to win to get to tomorrow. We did what we had to do today and that's behind us now. Our focus is tomorrow now."
