Eight Hokies earn NFCA All-Region honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Eight Hokies have received Division I All-Region Honors, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced on Thursday afternoon. All awarded student-athletes now become eligible for the 2022 NFCA Division I All-America squads. 
 
Keely Rochard and Emma Lemley were named to the First Team in the Mid-Atlantic Region, two of three pitchers on the First Team squad. Cameron Fagan and Bre Peck earned a spot as infielders, while Emma Ritter was named a First Team outfielder and Meredith Slaw earned the accolade as a designated player.
 
Rochard and Lemley have been Tech's two aces in the circle, leading the team in ERA. Rochard currently has a 1.73 ERA with 293 strikeouts, while Lemley has a 1.72 ERA with 193 strikeouts. Both were named to the All-ACC First Team, as Rochard was named the ACC Pitcher of the Year and Lemley was named the ACC Freshman of the Year.
 
Offensively, Ritter, Slaw and Fagan are ranked 1-3 in batting average, respectively. Ritter carries a .406 ERA with 37 RBI and a .667 slugging percentage. Slaw has eight home runs on the season and a .691 slugging percentage. Fagan has 59 hits over 159 at bats with four doubles and two triples. Bre Peck currently leads the team in home runs with 11 and has a .318 batting average.
 
Mackenzie Lawter and Darby Trull also earned a spot on the All-Region Team, with Lawter named to the Second Team and Trull named to the Third Team. Lawter has started almost every game at catcher for the Hokies, hitting seven home runs on the season with two walk-off hits. Trull has been the Hokies main center fielder, hitting .303 on the year with a .412 on base percentage.
