BRIGHTON, MASS -- Senior Keely Rochard was dealing on Friday, throwing a four-hit shutout to lead the No. 2 Virginia Tech Hokies over the Boston College Eagles 3-0.
Rochard (21-2) went the distance for Virginia Tech (37-6, 19-2), giving up four hits, walking one and striking out 15.
Senior Mackenzie Lawter led the way offensively for the Hokies, going 2-for-2 in the ballgame with a home run, a walk and an RBI. Junior Meredith Slaw provided a noteworthy performance as well, going 3-for-4. Sophomore Cameron Fagan also contributed, going 1-for-3 for Virginia Tech with a walk and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hokies took the lead for good in the second, scoring for the first time in the inning. Virginia Tech plated a run on a based-loaded walk by Fagan.
The Hokies then tacked on runs in the third and seventh innings, with the run in the seventh coming across on Lawter's two-out solo home run off senior Susannah Anderson.
