No. 2 Hokies set for final regular season ACC series

BRIGHTON, Mass. – The No. 2 Virginia Tech softball team heads North to take on Boston College in its final regular season ACC series of the season. Friday's game is set for 4 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. first pitch on Saturday, both on ACC Network Extra. Sunday is an 11 a.m. first pitch on ACC Network.
 
LAST TIME OUT
 
The Hokies clinched their seventh ACC series on Sunday afternoon, defeating Louisville 4-3, 3-0 and 7-4 last weekend. That was also Tech's fifth conference series sweep. Darby Trull had a great series at the plate, hitting .500 on the weekend with four hits, including a triple, with two runs scored. Mackenzie Lawter also came through for the Hokies with three hits, including a home run to tie the game up in the final game of the series. Lemley earned her fifth shutout of the season against Louisville, adding 13 to her strikeout total in her 7.0 innings pitched against the Cardinals. She also earned her second save of the season in game three, coming in to throw a scoreless seventh inning.
 
A SENIOR WEEKEND
 
The Hokies celebrated six seniors over the weekend against Louisville, including Keely Rochard, Mackenzie Lawter, Darby Trull, Ally Repko, Alexa Milius and Kayleigh Addington. At the plate, Repko, Lawter and Trull all made an impact. Trull was the Hokies top hitter over the series with a .500 average on the weekend. Lawter added a double and a home run to tie up game three and Repko had two clutch pinch-hit RBI doubles in games one and three to clinch the wins. Rochard got it done in the circle, going 2-0 with 19 total strikeouts against the Cardinals in her 13.0 innings pitched.
 
LEMLEY SHUTOUTS
 
Emma Lemley recorded her fifth shutout of the season against Louisville in the game two win on Saturday. She struck out 11 Cardinals and allowed just three hits in her seven innings of work. Her other four shutouts were against Miami OH (5 inn.), No. 14 Clemson, Longwood (no-hitter) and No. 22 UCF.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR FINALIST
 
Virginia Tech softball's Emma Lemley has been named a Top 25 Finalist for the Schutt Sports/NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year award, the NFCA announced on Thursday. Lemley has made a significant impact in the circle for the Hokies, posting a 14-4 record over 22 appearances and 104.0 innings pitched. The right-hander has struck out 178 batters, which currently ranks second in the ACC. Her 12.0 strikeouts per seven innings ranks first in the ACC and third in all of Division I.

The Hokies wrap up the regular season next Tuesday, hosting Liberty at 5 p.m. on the ACC Network. The ACC Tournament begins on May 11 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
