Moravek and Zawadzki earn VaSID Diver of the Year

BLACKSBURG – Teagan Moravek and Noah Zawadzki were each named the VaSID Diver of the Year the organization announced Monday afternoon. 
 
Moravek was also a First Team pick, with her teammate Emma Atkinson in backstroke. Zawadzki was chosen for First Team, as well. He is joined by teammates Youssef Ramadan (sprint free), Sam Tornqvist (backstroke), Carles Coll Marti (breaststroke and IM), Antani Ivanov (butterfly), and Taj Cole (diving).
 
Moravek qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 1-meter, tallying a 287.45 to finish 18th. She finished 10th at the ACC Championships in the event, scoring a 260.20. She took home 22nd in the platform with a score of 209.00 and tallied a score of 251.60 in the 3-meter. Throughout the season, Moravek remained a top competitor. She placed first in both 1-meter and 3-meter against three meets: Penn State, Virginia, and George Washington. At the Ohio State Invitational, she finished eighth in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events. Against Duke, she finished first in 1-meter and second in 1-meter.
 
Zawadzki qualified for the NCAA Championships in all three diving events. He finished seventh at the ACC Championships in every event, tallying a 359.00 on the platform, 319.65 on the 1- meter and a 318.90 on the 3-meter. His top performance at the NCAA meet was on the platform, where he took 22nd with a 313.80. He also set the school record on the 1-meter board this past season with a score of 426.75. Zawadzki was consistent throughout the season winning the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions in three meets: Penn State, Virginia, and Duke. He took first in the 1-meter competition at George Washington, as well. At the Ohio State Invitational, he finished eighth in the 1-meter and platform events, and 15th in the 3-meter portion.
 
Twelve more Hokies earned Second Team All-State, eight women and four men. The men's team had two relays earn a First Team pick, the 800 free and 400 medley. The other three, earned Second Team. All five relays for the women's team earned a Second Team Pick.
