GREENSBORO, N.C. — An ACC-high five members of the Virginia Tech men's basketball team were selected to the All-ACC Academic Team as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Justyn Mutts, who won the Skip Prosser Award earlier this year, along with Hunter Cattoor, the ACC Tournament MVP, were honored for the second straight season. Nahiem Alleyne was recognized for the third time in his career, while Keve Aluma and Storm Murphy were first-time honorees.
Mutts and Murphy will obtain their master's degrees next month in educational psychology and leadership studies, respectively. Cattoor and Alleyne are human development majors, while Aluma graduated last May with a bachelor's degree in human development.
Tech's five led the way once again among its conference peers. Pitt, Louisville and Syracuse each had four. The Hokies tied Clemson and Virginia last year for the ACC-high with five. The five players being named ties the most in school history (2021) since joining the ACC.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
