No. 6 Hokies fall to RV Charlotte 5-2

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The No. 6 Virginia Tech sotball team fell to RV Charlotte Wednesday afternoon, moving the Hokies to 11-3 on the season. Charlotte improves to 14-3.

Senior Keely Rochard got the start in the circle for the Hokies, striking out nine. In addition to her nine strikeouts, Rochard (6-2) went six innings, giving up five runs, four earned, on six hits and walking four for Virginia Tech.

Offensively, the Hokies were led by sophomore Emma Ritter, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double. Junior Kelsey Bennett put together a solid performance as well, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Sophomore Cameron Fagan also helped out for Virginia Tech, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hokies got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Bennett's run-scoring single highlighted a two-run inning for Virginia Tech. The Hokies were unable to hold the lead, as Charlotte scored five times over the remaining six innings to grab the 5-2 win.
