Hokies hit the road to continue start to outdoor season

BLACKSBURG – Continuing their strong start to the 2022 outdoor season, Virginia Tech's track & field squads head to Gainesville, Fla. for the Pepsi Florida Relays and Greenville, N.C. for the Bill Carson Invitational this weekend.
 
At the Pepsi Florida Relays, Associate Head Coaches Andrew Dubs and Tim Vaught will lead the throws and sprints groups to compete in one of the marquee meets in the early season. The Hokies will compete from Thursday, March 31 to Saturday, April 2 among top teams in the nation such as Florida, Ohio State, Tennessee, Miami (FL), Kentucky, Auburn, North Carolina A&T, and UCF.
 
In Greenville, at East Carolina's Bill Carson Invitational, the jumps, multis, and pole vault groups will compete against East Carolina, The Citadel, UNC Wilmington, Mount Olive, UNC Pembroke, and Winthrop. All 22 of Tech's athletes will compete across a busy Saturday at Minges Family Field.
 
Tech Director of Track and Field Dave Cianelli continues his 21st season at the helm in Blacksburg.

ATHLETES TO WATCH
After a strong opening 100m last weekend at the Raleigh Relays, Cole Beck runs the event again as well as the 200m in Florida. Also in the Florida Relays, Rebecca Mammel throws discus and hammer for a second weekend in a row as Sara Killinen opens her season in the hammer.
 
Jake Spotswood and Sean Murphy will continue honing their decathlon events at the Bill Carson Invitational as Harrison Rice, Jacob Rice, and the men's vaulters open their season. Hailey Huston Myles contests the triple jump in Greenville following her second-place effort at the Weems Baskin Invitational.
