Blacksburg -- The Virginia Tech lacrosse team (6-3, 2-1) won its fourth consecutive game Saturday with a convincing 17-5 victory over visiting Winthrop. Eight different Tech athletes scored goals including Olivia Vergano and Paige Tyson who each scored four times, and sophomore Whitney Liebler who scored seven points (2G, 5A).
How It Happened
The Hokies scored the game's first goal and four of the first five, building a quick lead in the first quarter. After Lauren Asher scored to make it 4-2, the Eagles would not find the net again until there was less than five minutes to go in the game, a span of nearly 42 minutes of game action.
Tech consistently took advantage of man up chances scoring three throughout the day.
Morgan Berman got the win in goal after making four saves through three quarters. Lilly Kannapell closed out the game in goal.
Tech controlled the draw all day, winning 16 to Winthrop's eight.
