THE SERIES

  • Virginia Tech has a 9-8 edge in the all-time series against Pitt.
  • The Hokies had won five in a row in the series before the Panthers earned an 83-72 win in the Steel City last season.
  • The first game of the series was played on Dec. 4, 1964 in Pittsburgh - a 74-69 win for the Panthers.
  • The Hokies have a 6-3 advantage in the series since both sides have been in the ACC.
  • This is the first time in series history that Tech and Pitt will play consecutive games against each other.

A WIN WOULD...

  • Mark the Hokies third straight ACC win and their longest winning streak since opening the season 5-0.
  • Be Coach Young's second win over the Panthers as head coach of the Hokies and first in Pittsburgh.
  • Hand Pitt its second straight loss of the season and eighth at home (7-7).
  • Move the Hokies to 2-0 in February and level their road record to 5-5.

HOKIE HEADLINES

  • Justyn Mutts (1,006) and Keve Aluma (1,004) both reached 1,000 career points in Tech's 81-66 win over Georgia Tech on Feb. 2.
  • Storm Murphy tied his season high of 18 points against the Yellow Jackets, going 4 for 6 from three. He's one point away from reaching 1,500 career points.
  • The Hokies shot at least 50 percent for the third straight ACC game - first time that's happened since the end of 2016-17 regular season.
  • Tech is shooting 41.1 percent from three this season, which is on pace to break the school record of 40.3 set in the 2016-17 season.
  • Saturday's game at Pitt is the Hokies' final road game until Feb. 23 at Georgia Tech.
