TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The No. 8 Virginia Tech Hokies battled against No. 2 Alabama Friday evening but were unable to push a run across on the Tide.
Senior Keely Rochard (3-1) got the ball to start for Virginia Tech (5-1), striking out 11 and giving up just one run on two hits. Her counterpart Montana Fouts (2-0) also had 11 strikeouts, giving up three hits on the night. Abby Doerr had the RBI single for Alabama that was the different maker in the second inning.
Sophomore Cameron Fagan led the way offensively for the Hokies, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame. Kelsey Bennett and Kelsey Brown also added a hit.
