Hokies smash 400 medley relay school record by three seconds at ACC Championships

ATLANTA – The Hokies add two more medals to the collection after the fourth day of competition in Atlanta. Antani Ivanov swam the fastest 200 fly time of the Virginia Tech season in the finals to earn silver with a time of 1:39.73. Reka Gyorgy swam her season best in the prelims and then again in the B final. She placed 12th overall with a time of 1:56.47. 
 
Sam Tornqvist certainly made himself known in the 100 back. He shattered the Virginia Tech school record in the prelims, finishing with a time of 45.88. As the lead-off of the 400 medely relay, Sam broke the school record again. He touched the wall at 45.54, leading his relay to a bronze medal. Forest Webb took fourth overall in the 100 back, finishing with a time of 46.15. Emma Atkinson swam her season best in the 100 back prelims earning a spot in the A final. Later that night, she shaved off more time and finished seventh overall with a time of 52.28. 
 
Carles Coll Marti swam a personal best in both the prelims and A final of the 100 breast. In the morning he swam a 52.48 and followed that performance with a 52.13 in the finals. Teammate, AJ Pouch swam his season best in the B final and Cobi Lopez Miro finished with a personal record in the same heat (53.03).
 
To finish the night, the men's 400 medley relay won a bronze medal. Sam Tornqvist, AJ Pouch, Antani Ivanov, and Youssef Ramadan battled in the final heat of the night to touch third overall. They finished with a time 3:02.71. That time was fast enough to create a new Virginia Tech school record by three seconds.
