THE SERIES

  • Virginia Tech is 13-51 all-time against the Cavaliers.
  • VT is 7-26 against the Cavaliers in ACC play.
  • VT is 5-24 against UVA on the road.

A WIN WOULD…

  • Signal a series sweep for the Hokies for the first time since 2015-16.
  • It would be VT's first back-to-back wins in Charlottesville since winning there in 2006 and 2007. The Hokies won a 69-61 contest on January 9, 2020 at JPJ Arena. Five Hokies were in double figures in that contest including Aisha Sheppard (13) and Elizabeth Kitley who posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Hokies scored 51 points in the second half in the comeback effort, they have not scored 50 in a half of an ACC contest since.
  • Earn 0.5 points in the Commonwealth Clash for Virginia Tech.

Following a halt during the 2019-20 academic year due to COVID-19 implications, the Commonwealth Clash has been renewed and has a new presenting sponsor in Smithfield. The Commonwealth Clash is a friendly, statewide rivalry between Virginia Tech and Virginia and their school-sponsored sports, with 22 individual event points on the line. The school that accumulates 11.5 points or more has been annually crowned the winner and takes home the Commonwealth Clash trophy, presented by Smithfield.
