BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech women's golf team, fresh off its first-ever appearance at the NCAA Championship, is on the national radar entering the 2021-22 season with the Hokies appearing at No. 20 in the GolfChannel.com preseason poll released this week.
Touting Tech's major returns and advancing past regionals for the first time last spring, GolfChannel.com predicts the Hokies to continue their upward trajectory as they begin their seventh season as a program.
Preseason polls from the Women's Golf Coaches Association Coaches Poll and Golfweek will be released later.
Tech returns four players who qualified for and played in the 2021 NCAA Championship in Scottsdale, Arizona, and bring in a top-10 recruiting class.
The Hokies' 2021-22 schedule was released last month. Tech will play in nine regular-season events before the ACC Championship and postseason play. After navigating through the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hokies will return to a traditional schedule with four tournaments in the fall, five in the spring and then the postseason.
Tech gets its season underway Sept. 13-14 at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
