Crooks records 100th career point, but Tech falls at Davidson 15-8

The Virginia Tech lacrosse team got two goals each from Grace Nelson, Paige Petty and Emma Crooks Wednesday, but it was not enough to overcome Davidson as the Hokies fell 15-8. For Crooks, the two points took her career tally to 101 becoming the latest Hokie to reach the century mark.
 
Tech falls to 2-4 (0-3) on the season with the result ahead of two final home non-conference games.
 
Davidson, (5-2, 0-0 Atlantic 10) allowed the first goal of the game from Whitney Liebler before finding their footing and scoring eight of the game's next nine goals to take control.
 
The Wildcats were led by Erin Cooke who scored four goals and Sam Rippley who also tallied a hat trick in the game. 
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
•Tech outshot the Wildcats 27-24, but Davidson goalie Amanda Monahan made 15 saves.
•The Hokies won more draws (14) with Crooks securing five, Sydney Golini four, Sophie Student three, and Leigh Lingo and Petty each recording one.
 
GAME NOTES
•Virginia Tech is now 16-5 against the Wildcats. 
•John Sung's record moves to 42-32 at Virginia Tech and 142-77 in his career as a head coach.
•Tech is 3-3 all-time on March 17.
Gracie Kennedy made her first collegiate start.
•Morgan Berman started in goal for the first time since the 2019 season.

•The Hokies will play host to the No. 14 Jacksonville Dolphins at Thompson Field on Saturday March 20. First draw for that contest is set for 12 p.m. and can be seen on ACC Network Extra.
