Hokies prepped for Men's 2021 ACC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – No. 13 Virginia Tech is set to open the 2021 Men's ACC Championships beginning Wednesday Feb. 24 at 4 p.m. at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

THE HOKIES
Along with the Women's team, the men's squad is fresh with young talent. Freshman Youssef Ramadan holds the top time in the conference in the 100 butterfly at 45.68. This is the second best time in school history, behind teammate Blake Manoff's impressive stamp of 45.60 from last year. Ramadan also holds the sixth best ACC time in the 100 free 43.10.
 
Another freshman who has made impressive strides this year is Carles Coll Marti. The freshman from Catalonia, Spain holds the second best time in the ACC in the 200 IM. Coll Marti swam a time of 1:43.80 at the Virginia Tech Invitational, securing his second place ranking in the event. Additionally, he holds the third best time in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:54.76.
 
Junior Blake Manoff holds the fifth best time in the 200 butterfly, clocking in at 1:42.90. Manoff placed second in the 200 fly in the 2020 ACC Championships, his time of 1:40.48 became a new school record which still stands. Manoff also holds the fourth best ACC time in the 200 freestyle at 1:34.46.
 
Antani Ivanov holds the top time in the ACC in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:41.73 which he swam at the UNC Janice Hape Dowd Invitational back in December. Ivanov placed third in the event at last year's championships with a time of 1:41.01. He also has the fourth best time in the ACC in the 100 butterfly with a time of 46.09, which he swam at the Virginia Tech Invitational.
 
THE FIELD
Including the Hokies, nine of the 12 ACC teams are ranked in the most recent CSCAA TYR Top-25. NC State enters the week ranked fifth, additionally the Wolfpack are the defending ACC Champions for the past six years. Louisville is ranked seventh, Virginia is behind them at 10th, Florida State at 15th, Notre Dame at 17th, North Carolina at 18th and Georgia Tech at 22nd. Pittsburgh rounds out the rankings at 25th.
