KENNESAW, Ga. – After the abrupt ending to the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Virginia Tech softball opens the 2021 season at Kennesaw State over 11 months since their final game of 2020.
The Hokies, ranked No. 15/16 in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll and ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll in the preseason, will open the season with a doubleheader Saturday afternoon. The three-game set against the Owls will conclude Sunday at noon.

This marks the first ever series between Virginia Tech and Kennesaw State.

Prior to the 2020 season ending, the Hokies were 21-4, 3-0 in the ACC, and return seven starters from that team. Jayme Bailey, Kelsey Bennett and Keely Rochard were all named to the Preseason All-ACC Team for the second straight year, and the Hokies were picked to finish second in the conference behind Florida State in the ACC Preseason Coaches Poll.
