Joseph wins AVCA Diversity Award

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech volleyball team's very own Director of Operations Leah Joseph won the AVCA Diversity Award this past week in its fifth year of recognition. 

The fifth annual AVCA Diversity Awards saw 40 recipients with 26 of those being sponsored. Joseph is sponsored by and represents the Atlantic Coast Conference Assistant Coaches.  

The accomplishment emphasizes influence and efforts to change and improve one's community along with society as a whole. The honor is centered around work focusing on a multitude of issues including the fight for equality, social injustice issues, discrimination and worldwide health according to the AVCA.

On what the award means to her:
"I feel honored to receive this award and be recognized by many of the coaches I come in contact with throughout the season," Joseph said. "It's been awesome to represent young black women in this field, and I hope that I can serve as a continued role model for those who come after me.
