Leah Joseph enters her first year working with football, following a four-year stint as the director of operations for volleyball at Tech. With football, Joseph will be the Director of On-Campus Recruiting and will focus primarily on unofficial and official visits with recruits.
A member of a football family, her father, Bernard, is a Tech football alum and currently serves as the head football coach at St. Stephens and St. Agnes High School in Alexandria, Virginia. He was a roommate of the NFL’s all-time sack leader Bruce Smith during their time as teammates at Tech. She is also a first cousin of Chase Young of the NFL’s Washington Football Team.
She was hired as director of volleyball operations in March of 2017. Her duties at Tech included assisting with day-to-day operations, scheduling, team travel and business office logistics. Additionally, Joseph was a liaison with equipment and nutrition, and assists with game management. She was named a 2020 AVCA Diversity Award Recipient, as well.
Joseph, a native of Cheltenham, Maryland, is a Georgia Southern graduate where she played volleyball and earned SoCon and Sun Belt Academic Honor Roll accolades. Joseph played in 27 matches in her career, logging career highs (108 kills, 94 blocks) in 2014, including leading the team in blocks.
During her time in Statesboro, Georgia, Joseph was the head coach of the Southern Slammers Volleyball Club, coaching 13-18 year-old girls. She also worked actively on the student advisory board at GSU.
Joseph earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology. She also was a keynote speaker for the athletic convocation, and was an invocation speaker for the annual academic athletic award ceremony her senior year.
In 2016, Joseph was a student assistant coach for the Eagles, assisting in day-to-day practices and organizing pre-game meals.
Joseph is the daughter of Rhonda and Bernard Joseph and has a brother, Terence. Her father, Bernard, played football at Virginia Tech. She graduated from St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes High School earning all-state honors in volleyball and broke the school’s record on the track in the 100-meter hurdles.
