Seventeen Hokies earn USTFCCCA academic honors

NEW ORLEANS – The Virginia Tech track and field program received great news Thursday afternoon as 17 student-athletes earned All-Academic honors by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
 
Patrick Forrest, Jack Joyce, Antonio Lopez Segura, Bashir Mosavel-Lo, Ben Nibbelink, Alexios Prodanas, Jacob Rice, Tyreke Sapp, Peter Seufer and Diego Zarate represented the Hokies on the men's side, helping them become one of five programs that had 10 or more All-Academic Athletes.

Mosavel-Lo, Joyce and Zarate pick up All-Academic honors for the third time of their careers, as Segura is honored for the second time. It is the first time for Forrest, Nibbelink, Prodanas, Rice, Sapp and Seufer
 
Lauren Berman, Grace Boone, Ellie Brush, Lindsey Butler, Sarah Edwards, Sara Freix and Nykah Smith represented the women's side.
 
This is the fourth time earning USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for Edwards, while it is the third time that Freix has been honored. It is the first time for Berman, Boone, Brush, Butler and Smith.
 
To qualify for the USTFCCCA Track and Field All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and met athletic standard. For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
