BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech volleyball earned high praise in the classroom as 16 players made the 2019-20 ACC Honor Roll.
Tech saw 323 student-athletes record a GPA of 3.0 or higher this year. The volleyball squad had the entire active roster accomplish this academic achievement.
Here are the volleyball athletes who made the list, with the parentheses indicating how many times they have made honor roll: Marisa Cerchio (3), Talyn Jackson (2), Sarah Jane Lynch (2), Tabitha McKinzie (4), Logan Mosley (1), Cera Powell (1), Carol Raffety (3), Angel Robinson (1), Kaity Smith (2), Ester Talamazzi (3), Rachel Tam (1), Kylie Thomas (3), Jennifer Williams (2), Tessa Wyner (2), Kai Young (2), Anabel Zier (1).
Tech finished the 2020 spring semester with an overall combined GPA of 3.76, while three Hokies graduated and received their Virginia Tech diploma. Abby McKinzie (Bachelor of Arts in Communication, Communication Studies), Carol Raffety (Bachelor of Science in Sociology, Criminology) and Ester Talamazzi (Bachelor of Science in Business, Management & Marketing Management).
Earlier this year, setter Talyn Jackson was named to the All-ACC Academic Team to go along with the many accomplishments the Hokies saw in the classroom.
With seven newcomers joining the 2020 campaign, Tech looks to continue its success on and off the court.
