GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sixteen members of the Virginia Tech track and field teams have been named to the ACC's All-Academic team, as announced by the league office on Friday.
The men's team collected 10 honors, highlighted by ACC indoor track Most Valuable Performer Peter Seufer who has been tabbed to the all-academic team for the fourth time of his career. Diego Zarate was named to the academic squad for the third time, while Bashir Mosavel-Lo picks up honors for the second time. Joey Badalamenti, Patrick Forrest, Jack Joyce, Antionio Lopez Segura, Alexios Prodanas, Jacob Rice and Tyreke Sapp make their first appearance on the academic team
The women's team earned six honors and is highlighted by ACC Indoor champion and three-time honoree Sarah Edwards. Edwards is joined by second-time honoree Sara Freix and first-time recipients Lauren Berman, Grace Boone, Lindsey Butler and Nykah Smith.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team. A combined 89 men and women named to the All-ACC Academic Indoor Track and Field Academic Teams also earned first- or second-team All-ACC honors at this year's Championship and/or were ACC Performers of the Week during the regular season.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
