Hokies on the road for midweek games

BLACKSBURG – After shutting out Virginia in three straight road games to start the ACC season, Virginia Tech softball heads north for midweek games against George Washington and George Mason.
 
Tuesday's game with George Washington (8-13) will be played at the Mount Vernon Campus Softball Field in Washington D.C. The game with George Mason (7-11) on Wednesday is at the Recreation Athletic Complex in Fairfax, Virginia.

The Hokies (19-4, 3-0 ACC) opened the ACC season this past weekend a sweep over the Cavaliers (8-12, 0-6), capturing one point in the Commonwealth Clash presented by Virginia529. Virginia leads this year's Commonwealth Clash 7.5-6.5.
 
Keely Rochard (14-3) threw three straight complete-game shutouts, capped off by her second no-hitter of the season Sunday afternoon. In 21.0 innings, Rochard struck out 24 batters and gave up just four hits and one walk.

The Colonials are coming off a 3-1 weekend at the Buff and Blue Classic in Washington D.C., where they defeated Winthrop, Rider and Monmouth. Jenna Cone powers the offense with a .387 batting average and six home runs for 16 RBIs.

The Patriots hosted the Mason Classic this past weekend where they went 4-0, beating Canisius, Cornell, Buffalo and Hofstra. Taylor Dadig leads the team with a .370 batting average.
