PITTSBURGH – Virginia Tech drops their last dual of the season 18-13 to 10th-ranked Pitt Saturday night in Pittsburgh's Fitzgerald Field House.
The Hokies (11-3, 2-3 ACC) won four matchups Saturday night but the Panthers (10-4, 3-2 ACC) won six and took the dual. David McFadden, wrestling in his last dual match, won a top-15 matchup over Jake Wentzel.
Tech concludes the season with a 5-3 record against top-25 opponents. Tech got wins over Missouri, Northwestern, Ohio State, Central Michigan and Cornell.
MATCH NOTES
- Joey Prata got the dual started with a 6-2 decision win over Louis Newell. With the win, Prata improves to 17-10 on the season and finishes with an 8-6 dual record.
- Mitch Moore, who moved up to No. 14 in the country this week, beat Pitt's Cole Matthews 4-2. Moore ends dual competition with an impressive 11-2 record. He outscored his dual opponents 48-7 this season.
- Bryce Andonian continues to rack up bonus point wins. After a pin last week in the dual sagainst No. 3 N.C. State, Andonian scored a 10-1 major decision win over Luke Kemerer for his 17th win of the season and 13th bonus point victory.
- In his last dual match of his illustrious career, McFadden defeated No. 14 Wentzel 2-1 Saturday night. He concludes his dual career with 51 wins and just nine losses. McFadden had 10 dual wins this season.
