No. 7 Tech takes on UVA
- Friday night's dual will be the 81st time the Hokies and Hoos meet on the mat. Tech leads the all-time series lead 47-32-1.
- Virginia Tech has won the last seven meetings between the two teams dating back to January of 2015, when the Hokies won 16-15.
- The Hokies are 4-0 on the road this season. They've won at Ohio State, Central Michigan, Binghamton and Cornell.

- Virginia Tech is ranked seventh in the country this week by the NWCA Coaches Poll, down four spots from last week after a 23-10 loss to No. 12 North Carolina.
- The Hokies sport six wrestlers in the InterMat rankings this week. Hunter Bolen remains second in the country at 184 pounds and David McFadden is No. 5 this week at 165 pounds.
- UVA has two wrestlers in this week's InterMat rankings. Jack Mueller is No. 2 at 125 pounds and Jay Aiello is No. 9 at 197.
- Friday night's featured matchup should be at 125 pounds, when No. 13 Joey Prata takes on No. 2 Jack Mueller.
Hokies stumble vs. UNC
- After winning eight straight duals, the Hokies took a step back against No. 12 North Carolina Friday night in Cassell Coliseum. Then-No. 3 Tech lost 23-10 to the Tar Heels.
- Hunter Bolen was the only Hokie of the night to win bonus points with a 13-4 major decision over Joey Mazzara. Bolen is 19-1 on the season and an undefeated 9-0 in duals.
- Collin Gerardi and John Borst also picked up wins against North Carolina. Freshman Bryce Andonian competed well against the No. 2 wrestler in the country at 149 pounds. Andonian lost by decision to Austin O'Connor.
- Tech will look to put the loss behind them Friday night against Virginia.
