McFadden places fifth at the 2019 NCAA Wrestling Championships

Session V Brackets

PITTSBURGH – Redshirt junior David McFadden wrapped up his third All-American campaign with a 4-3 decision over Nebraska's Mikey Labriola in the fifth-place match at the NCAA Championships in PPG Paints Arena on Saturday morning.

Redshirt senior Zack Zavatsky dropped a tough 5-4 decision to Oklahoma State's Dakota Geer in his final match, wrapping a stellar career that saw him place twice at nationals and win three ACC titles.

Tonight, redshirt freshman Mekhi Lewis will wrestle for the national title at 165 pounds against Penn State's Vincenzo Joseph at 7 p.m. on ESPN. Virginia Tech sits in 10th in the team standings with 46.0 team points.
