BLACKSBURG – Playing in its first midweek game of the season, the [RV] Virginia Tech softball team will head southwest to take on Radford
Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET at the Radford Softball Stadium.
The New River Valley matchup will be one of two contest between the Hokies (12-2) and Highlanders (5-5) this year. The two teams will meet again in Blacksburg on March 27.
Tech leads the all-time series 40-13, but the Highlanders have won the last two games, with both of those taking place last season. The Hokies are 12-5 all-time on the road at Radford.
The game will not be streamed but there will be live stats available.

For the first time this season, the Hokies were on the wrong side of the scoreboard. Tech fell twice last Friday, but finished the USF-Rawlings Invitational strong by going 3-0 on Saturday and Sunday.
It posted two shut outs and racked up 30 hits its last three games, beating Georgia State (1-13) twice and --/[RV] Texas State (7-7) once in Tampa, Florida.
Freshman Kelsey Bennett hit over .500 on the weekend, going 8 for 14 at the plate (.571) with six RBIs and two home runs. Her two homers versus the Bobcats marked the first time a Hokie did so since March 10, 2017, when Breanna Davenport hit consecutive long balls versus Florida State.
The pitching of Carrie Eberle and Keely Rochard shined over the last three games for Tech, only allowing one run in 20 innings and surrendering 12 hits to 80 batters faced.
In the national rankings, Tech has the fourth-best batting average in the country (.389), and senior Emma Strouth has the seventh-most hits in the land (24).

The Highlanders won their first game at the Holy City Showdown this past weekend, taking down College of Charleston, which the Hokies did so too earlier this year, but fell the next four games at the tournament. This will be Radford's first home game of the season.
