Hokies, Cavaliers renew rivalry in Cassell Coliseum

The Virginia Tech men's basketball team returns home on Monday night to take on archrival Virginia in a top 25 match-up. The game, to be played at a sold out Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum, will tip-off at 7 p.m. as part of ESPN's "Big Monday".

     This is the Hokies most-played rivalry … The series dates back to Feb. 20, 1915, when the Cavaliers defeated Tech, 39-21, in Charlottesville … Along with Blacksburg and Charlottesville, the series has also been played in Roanoke, Lynchburg, Richmond, Salem, Hampton, Norfolk and Greensboro, North Carolina (the 2006 ACC Tournament) … After many years of neutral site games, the series returned to each campus, beginning in the 2000-01 season, the year Tech joined the Big East Conference … This has been a home-and-home series since Tech joined the ACC in the 2004-05 season.
