BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech track and field teams return to action Friday, as they play host to the "Doc Hale" Elite Meet at Rector Field House, while select distance runner will compete at the Camel City Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

The Elite Meet marks the third of four regular-season home events for the Hokies this season. The two-day meet will begin at 5 p.m. ET on Friday and will commence again Saturday, with field events beginning at 11 a.m. Admission will be free for all fans and parking is available in the lots surrounding Rector Field House.

Rachel Baxter (pole vault), Isaiah Rogers (weight throw) and Jacory Patterson (200) all earned first-place finishes last weekend, with Baxter and Patterson winning at Clemson's Bob Pollock Invitational and Rogers winning at the Iowa Black and Gold Premier in Iowa City, Iowa.

Baxter stood out for the vault group, as she set a new personal record of 4.37 meters (14 feet, 4 inches), which has her tied for third all time in the Tech record book with Victoria Von Eynatten. Patterson led the way for the sprints group, as he set a new school record in the 200 with a time of 20.84 seconds. That time was two-tenths of a second faster than that of previous record holder Greg Chiles (21.04). In another notable performance, after resetting her school record in the long jump two weeks ago, Eszter Bajnok went on to reset her school record in the triple jump with her mark of 13.04 meters (42 feet, 9.5 inches).

Select distance runners will compete at the Camel City Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Friday and Saturday. The two-day event will start Friday at 1 p.m., with the mile and will begin again at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday with the 400.

At the Camel City invitational, admission is $7 for adults and $4 for students 13 years and up on Friday. On Saturday, admission costs $10 for adults and $5 for students 13 years and up. Admissions is free both days for all children under 12.

The Hokies will play host to Miami, North Carolina, ECU and Florida at the Doc Hale Elite Meet.
