Hokies gearing up for NFL Playoffs

Here's a preview of all of this weekend's games featuring Virginia Tech alums, plus a recap of last weekend's top performances.
 
Saturday, January 5
 
Seattle at Dallas – 8:15 p.m. ET
Richmond native Duane Brown and the Seattle Seahawks travel to Dallas to face the Dallas Cowboys. The Seahawks are the fifth seed in the NFC and are facing the fourth-seeded Cowboys in the NFC Wild Card round. Seattle is coming off a 27-24 win over the Cardinals, while the Cowboys defeated the Giants 36-35. Former Hokie Nick Sorensen serves as the secondary coach for Seattle.

Sunday, January 6
 
L.A. Chargers at Baltimore – 1:05 p.m. ET 
S Chuck Clark and the No. 4 Baltimore Ravens face CB Brandon Facyson and the No. 5 L.A. Chargers. The Chargers finished the season 12-4 after defeating the Broncos 23-9 and were just one win short of the No. 1 seed in the AFC.  The Ravens defeated the Browns by a 26-24 margin to claim the AFC North crown.

Clark registered two snaps at free safety against the Buccaneers, while Facyson saw 16 snaps at cornerback against the Chiefs. On the season, Clark has 20 tackles, one pass defended and one interception.
 
Philadelphia at Chicago – 4:25 pm ET
Pro Bowl CB Kyle Fuller and the No. 3 Chicago Bears host the No. 6 seed Philadelphia Eagles. The Bears finished the regular season 12-4 after defeating the Vikings 24-10, while the Eagles earned the last open spot in the playoffs with a Vikings loss and 24-0 win against the Redskins.
 
Fuller had three tackles in the win over Minnesota and finished the regular season tied for first in the NFL with seven interceptions to go along with his 55 tackles to go with 21 passes defensed.

Kansas City Chiefs – Bye Week
CB Kendall Fuller and the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Oakland Raiders 35-3 to finish the regular season 12-4 and claim the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC.
 
Fuller had a team-high 12 tackles, to bring his regular season totals to 82 tackles, 12 passes defended, one forced fumble and two interceptions.

Regular Season Recaps
 
Buffalo Bills
LB Tremaine Edmunds, G Wyatt Teller, TE Logan Thomas and the Buffalo Bills' season came to an end on Sunday with a 42-17 victory against rival Miami Dolphins.
 
Edmunds had a team-leading 12 tackles, one sack, one pass defended and one interception in the win. Teller got his sixth consecutive start, while Thomas saw seven snaps at TE on the day. On the season, in his rookie campaign Edmunds tallied 121 tackles, 2.0 sack, two forced fumbles, 12 passes defended and two interceptions.
 
Earlier this week, the Bills also announced they are bringing back WR Cam Phillips in 2019 as a reserve/future free agent.
 


Pittsburgh Steelers
S Terrell Edmunds, RB Trey Edmunds and the Pittsburgh Steelers' season came to an end as they defeated the Bengals 16-13. The Steelers finished the season 8-7-1 and had a chance to the playoffs, but the win by the Ravens sealed their fate as a non-playoff team.
 
Last week S Terrell Edmunds had five tackles, while RB Trey Edmunds got 14 snaps at running back on the day. The former Tech safety wrapped up his season with 78 tackles, four passes defended, one interception, one sack and one fumble recovery in his rookie season. TE Bucky Hodges is a member of the practice squad.
 
Cleveland Browns
QB Tyrod Taylor and the Cleveland Browns fell to the Ravens 26-24 in their final game to go 7-8-1 on the season. Though he only played in four games on the season, Taylor finished the year going 42-85 for 473 yards and two touchdowns in the air and carried the ball 16 times for 125 yards and one touchdown.
 
Washington Redskins
CB Greg Stroman, DT Tim Settle, CB Adonis Alexander and the Washington Redskins dropped their season finale 24-0 to the Philadelphia Eagles to finish 7-9 on the season.
 
Stroman had four tackles, Settle saw 21 snaps at DT and Alexander saw 1 snap at CB last week. Stroman finished his rookie season with 37 tackles, one forced fumble, four passes defended and one interception. Former Hokie Torrian Gray serves as the Redskins' secondary coach.
 
Miami Dolphins
WR Isiah Ford and the Miami Dolphins' season came to end on Sunday with a 42-17 loss to the Bills. Ford finished the season on the Dolphins' active roster after being promoted from the practice squad in week 13. He did not record any stats on the season, but did see snaps at WR in the final weeks of the season.
 
San Francisco 49ers
S Antone Exum, Jr. and the San Francisco 49ers had their last game of the season as they fell to the Rams 49-32.
 
Exum, Jr. had four tackles in the game, bring his season totals to 40 tackles, one sack, seven passes defended, one forced fumble and an INT return TD.
