SHORT TIME – VIRGINIA TECH
- This will be the second consecutive season that the Hokies will have wrestlers competing in at the Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga.
- Last year, Mekhi Lewis placed fourth as a true freshman at the Scuffle where he suffered his only two losses of his redshirt season to Lock Haven's Chance Marsteller. Stanley Smeltzer placed eighth at the Scuffle after going 3-3 at 184.
- Virginia Tech is one of seven teams competing at the Scuffle that finished in the top 25 last season at the NCAA Championships along with Penn State, NC State, Oklahoma State, Lehigh, Lock Haven and Duke.
- The Hokies will also have wrestlers competing at the David Lehman F&M Open on Jan. 5. TrackWrestling will have all of the coverage.
- Tech is coming off of a dominating 24-9 victory at West Virginia on Dec. 19 that saw the Hokies pick up three bonus point victories.
- After the Scuffle, the Hokies will head to the 757 for the Virginia Duals at the Hampton Coliseum where they will see a field that features Arizona State, Lock Haven, Oklahoma, Virginia, Old Dominion, Kent State and Chattanooga.
