BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech men's basketball team face the Purdue Boilermakers in the finals of the Charleston Classic on Sunday night. The game will tip-off at 8:30 p.m. and will be shown on ESPN2.

The Hokies defeated Northeastern, 88-60, in the semifinals of the Charleston Classic on Friday morning … Tech outscored the Huskies 23-2 in the final 6:12 of the first half and never trailed after that … Four Hokies scored in double figures, led by Nickeil Alexander-Walker with 20 points and a career-high seven assists … Justin Robinson added 19 points, Ahmed Hill had 15 points and Kerry Blackshear Jr., score 12 points.
 
Vs. Purdue
This will be the fourth meeting between the two schools on the hardwood … The Hokies hold a 2-1 lead in the all-time series, which dates back to the 1965-66 season … Tech won both ends of a home-and-home with the Boilermakers back in the mid 1960's and lost to No. 22 Purdue, 58-55, in overtime in Cassell Coliseum in the 2010 ACC/Big Ten Challenge … Two of the three previous meetings have gone to overtime … Tech is 37-52 all-time against schools currently in the Big Ten.

The Hokies outscored Northeastern, 36-12 in the paint … Tech shot just four free throws in the game … Nickeil Alexander-Walker set a new career-high with seven assists and tied a career-high with four steals … The Hokies did not allow the Huskies a two-point field goal in the first half and did not allow NU a field goal of any kind in the final 6:12 of the first half … Wabissa Bede set a new career-high with 29 minutes played … Tech assisted on 21 of their 36 made baskets.

In the win over Northeastern, Justin Robinson scored his 1,100th career point at Virginia Tech … He now has 1,105 points and is in 40th place in career scoring at the school … Ahmed Hill is now alone in 46th place in career scoring at Virginia Tech … He has 1,049 career points.
