HOKIES SET FOR BUSY WEEKEND
• Virginia Tech will be action In the United States and abroad this weekend as the No. 10 Hokies will face seventh-ranked Missouri on Friday night in Columbia, Mo., before traveling to No. 25 Northwestern for a 3 p.m. dual on Sunday.
• Not with the team is two-time All-American David McFadden, who's representing his country at 79 kg this weekend at the U23 World Championships in Bucharest, Romania.
• McFadden will wrestle early tomorrow morning at 3:30 a.m. EST.
McFADDEN RECEIVES DRAW FOR U23s
• David McFadden will go up against 2018 University World bronze medalist Muhammet Lufti Kucukyildirim of Turkey in his first match at the U23 World Championships.
• McFadden clinched his spot on the team over the summer at the U23 World Team trials in Akron, Ohio where he defeated Missouri's Daniel Lewis in the best-of-three finals.
• McFadden pinned Lewis in the second period of the first match and won the second bout by tech fall.
• The West Milford, N.J., native looks to top the performance of teammate Mekhi Lewis, who brought a Junior World championship back to Blacksburg back in September.
LEWIS, MOORE WIN TITLES AT THE HOKIE OPEN
• Virginia Tech redshirt freshman Mekhi Lewis and freshman Mitch Moore won titles at their respective weight classes at the Hokie Open on Sunday held on Nov. 4 the Berglund Center in Roanoke.
• Overall, 15 Hokies placed and eight reached the finals at the that tournament officially opened the 2018-19 season for Tech.
• Lewis' 4-0 performance was headlined by an 8-6 decision over No. 18 Bryce Martin of Indiana in the finals at 165 pounds.
• Moore defeated two opponents from NC State and pinned Virginia's Gray Hart at 1:19 in the semifinals en route to winning the title in his first collegiate action.
TRANSFERS SET FOR FIRST DUALS AT VT
• This weekend will see the dual meet debuts for Edinboro transfer Korbin Myers at 133 pounds and Bucknell transfer Tom Sleigh at 197 pounds.
• Both wrestlers replace mainstays in the Hokie lineup over the past four years in two-time ACC champion Dennis Gustafson at 133 and three-time All-American Jared Haught at 197.
• Myers is a two-time NCAA qualifier who won two EWL championships while at Edinboro.
• Sleigh reached NCAAs three times and went 89-36 at Bucknell.
