BLACKSBURG – After splitting up for three meets last weekend, the Virginia Tech track and field teams will go to one meet on Friday at the VertKlasse Meeting on High Point's campus.
The meet was originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday, but has been rescheduled due to inclement weather. The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. ET with the women's javelin.
Tech will be sending the sprints/hurdles, jumps/multis and pole vault groups. The Big South Network will stream the meet live, starting at 12:30 p.m.
The Hokies fell one spot to No. 13 on the men's side and the women moved up two spots to No. 18 in the outdoor United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Week 1 Top 25 poll. Tech is the highest-ranked school on both sides out of the ACC.

The last time out, Tech went to the Florida, Raleigh and Texas Relays and took home two event titles in the throwing events. Marek Barta won the discus, throwing a mark of 61.13 meters (200 feet, 7 inches) and Emma Thor placed first in the hammer throw, with a top mark of 62.86 meters (206 feet, 3 inches) at the Florida Relays.
Freshman Lisa Gunnarsson placed second in the pole vault, posting a school-record mark of 4.60 meters (15 feet, 1 inch) at the Texas Relays. The performance earned her ACC Performer of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday. Sophomore Eszter Bajnok tied the program record in the long jump, recording a mark of 6.13 meters (20 feet, 1.5 inches) in Austin.
The Hokies have nine student-athletes who have times and marks that rank across the nation in the top 25. Gunnarsson and Rachel Baxter rank first and 11th in the pole vault, Stefanie Aeschlimann sits 11th in the triple jump and throwers Thor and Pavla Kuklova are 11th and 14th in the hammer throw.
On the men's side, Greg Chiles owns the sixth-fastest time in the 400-meter hurdles, Deakin Volz and Torben Laidig sit eighth and 14th in the pole vault and Barta has the third-best throw in the discus.
