BLACKSBURG – Beginning the 2018 campaign on the road for the first time since 2014, the Virginia Tech track and field teams will head up north to University Park, Pennsylvania, to compete at the Nittany Lion Challenge on the campus of Penn State inside Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track on Saturday.
The one-day meet will commence at 11 a.m. ET and will be broadcasted live on Flo Track and the Big Ten Network 2 Go (BTN2Go). Users will need to have an account or can sign up to access the streams.

Eleven teams will be competing at the meet, including Bucknell, Connecticut, Cornell, Georgetown, Iowa State, Maryland, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Point Park, Villanova and Virginia Tech.
The Hokies enter the new indoor season with high expectations, as the men were tabbed No. 8 in the country, according to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) earlier this week.
Three event groups will make the trek up to the Quaker State, including the sprinters, pole vaulters and jumps/multi-events group.
A number of Hokies will be making their Virginia Tech debuts at the season-opening meet. On the men’s side, Alex Davenport, Lawrence Harris, Nathan Hogye, Joel Leon Benitez, Keishaun Limehouse and Matthew Manilli. On the women’s side, Stefanie Aeschlimann, Rachel Baxter, Kennedy Dennis, Lisa Gunnarsson and Caitlan Tate.
The last time out at Penn State in 2017, Tech sent the pole vaulters to the meet and did not disappoint. Deakin Volz captured first place, vaulting a mark of 5.46 meters (17 feet, 11 inches), and Olivia Privitera did the same, taking home first after a vault of 3.92 meters (12 feet, 8.25 inches).
