Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech head women’s golf coach Carol Robertson has announced the signings of Elizabeth Bose, Nicolette Donovan, Anne Taylor Hough and Whitney Stevenson to National Letters of Intent. The four signees will enroll in the fall of 2015.
Elizabeth Bose is a senior at Norfolk Christian High School in Norfolk, Virginia, where she maintains highest-honors GPA. A three-year letterwinner in golf at Norfolk Christian, Bose is a three-time all-conference selection and was named All-State last season. She competed in the 2014 US Girls’ Junior Championship and was the runner-up in the 2013 Virginia Junior Girls’ Championship. Bose has been selected four times for Virginia Junior Girls’ team and has six junior golf wins between 2012 and 2014. She was the champion of the 2014 Northern Junior Golf Championship and posted wins at Kingsmill Resort, home of annual LPGA tournament, and at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club, site of three US Women’s Opens. The daughter of David of Kelly Bose of Norfolk, her older brother, Trip, is certified as a PGA teaching professional.
“I have known Elizabeth for many years and from day one, she impressed me with her drive and dedication,” Robertson said. “She will fit right into the Virginia Tech culture of hard-work, and I know for a fact she will make everyone around her better. Elizabeth knows what being a teammate is all about, and I look forward to her contributions to our program and Virginia Tech.”
Nicolette Donovan is a senior at Ponte Vedra High School in Ponte Vedra, Florida. In junior golf, she was co-medalist at the USGA Girls’ Junior Qualifier and qualified for match play at the Florida Women’s Amateur Match Play championship. She won the 2013 FHSAA Class 2A State Championship and tied for second place at the Florida High School Tournament of Champions. She is a two-time Florida Times Union Player of the Year and was named the St. Augustine Record Player of the Year in 2013. Donovan qualified for the 2013 USGA Girls’ Junior Championship and won the Florida Junior Tour (FJT) Tour Championship, ages 13-15. Donovan has a cumulative overall GPA of above a 4.0 and is a member of the National Honor Society and the Hispanic honor society.She was also a member of the national science honor society as a junior. She is the daughter of Doug and Donna Donovan and has a sister, Karly.
“It didn’t take me long to realize Nicolette is something special,” Robertson said. “She makes it a goal to become better on a daily basis and I am thoroughly impressed by her knowledge of the game and her unrelenting competitiveness. I look forward to having a front row seat to her college career.”
Anne Taylor Hough is a senior at Spartanburg High School in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where she is a six-time all-region selection. She won the 2013 Upstate championship and the 2014 regional title. She was the 2013 Herald Journal Player of the Year and a three-time all-state selection. Spartanburg High School was state runner-up three years in a row. Hough was the 2014 Beth Daniel Jr. Azalea champion and was runner-up in the event in 2013. She has two Peggy Kirk Bell Tour wins and was a member of the 2013 Can-Am Team. In 2013-2014, she had four top-tens and two top-fives in AJGA events and a top-ten state ranking. She is the daughter of Taylor and Anna Hough.
“Anne Taylor is a great addition to the inaugural team,” Robertson continued. “She is just beginning to see her true potential and I sincerely believe her peak will come while at VT. There are so many resources here for Anne Taylor and I am thrilled to watch her development.”
Whitney Stevenson is a sophomore at Daytona State Junior College in Daytona, Florida. Daytona State won the 2014 NJCAA National Championship under head coach Laura Brown and Stevenson was a NJCAA All American. She was the 2013-2014 Daytona State Athletic Scholar of the Year and made the 2013-2014 Dean’s List. Her highest individual finish last season was third place in the 2013 Lady Falcon Invitational. Stevenson is a native of Canton, Georgia and attended Creekview High School. The daughter of John and Kathy Stevenson, she has two sisters, Samantha and Elena. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society at Daytona State.
“Whitney will be new to Virginia Tech, but certainly not to collegiate golf,” Robertson concluded. “She has spent two years rapidly improving under a fantastic coach, Laura Brown of Daytona State, while also gaining valuable tournament experience that will be vital in our inaugural season.”
