BLACKSBURG, Va. – The No. 66 Virginia Tech women’s tennis team fell to No. 24 Clemson, 7-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center in Blacksburg, Va. Tech falls to 12-10 and 3-6 in the ACC while the Tigers improve to 13-8 and 6-3 in the league.
The Tigers got out to a 1-0 lead after winning the doubles point with wins in all three matches.
Clemson took a 2-0 lead with a win in the No. 6 singles as Romy Kolzer had a 6-1, 6-2 win against Emily Lauten. In the No. 1 singles, Clemson’s 55th-ranked Keri Wong defeated Martha Blakely, 6-0, 6-2 to take the 3-0 lead in the match.
The Tigers secured the match with a 6-2, 6-3 win in the No. 3 singles as Josipa Bek held off Isel Martinez-Marcos.
Tech will wrap up the regular season next weekend, traveling to Florida State and Miami.
