Tech concludes UNCW Collegiate Invitational

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Members of the Virginia Tech women’s tennis team concluded play at the UNCW Collegiate Invitational on Sunday in Wilmington, N.C.

In the flight A singles, Shannon Betts fell in the finals of the consolation bracket to Furman’s Margaret Boyette, 6-1, 6-2.

The Hokies picked up a win in doubles as Betts and partner, Katie Blow squared off against Kelly Cameron and Miller Hales of UNCW in an extra, non-bracketed match. Tech secured the 9-7 decision.

Tech will be back on the court, Sept. 30-Oct. 2 at the Wake Forest Classic with members making the trip to Winston-Salem, N.C. Other members of the team will begin competition at the Williamsburg ITF Circuit, Oct. 1-4.
