Jacques/Re drop UVa Invitational Final


CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va - Sebastien Jacques and Yoann Re, after upsetting the No. 2 and 3 seeds in their A doubles bracket came up just short Sunday morning in the final of the UVa Invitational. The tournament featured players from 17 schools, including seven nationally-ranked singles players and two doubles teams. The event was played at the Snyder Tennis Center on the University of Virginia campus.

Jacques (So., Magog, Quebec, Canada)/Re (Jr., Verdun, Quebec, Canada) lost a tough 9-8 (3) decision to the top seeds, No. 33 Barrick/Singh (Virginia). Elsewhere, Patrick Daciek (Fr., Severna Park, Md.)/Zachary Pine (Fr., Vienna, Va.) dropped the B doubles consolation final, 8-5, against Robinson/Smith (James Madison), however Eduardo Pinto (Jr., San Jose, Costa Rica) defeated Andy Erickson (George Washington), 6-1, 6-2, to take the D singles consolation final. Preston Lemon (Sr., Roanoke, Va.) lost to David Cardoso (Longwood), 0-6, 6-4, 1-0 (6) in the D singles preliminary consolation bracket.

Tech will split up the team next week to participate in both the Southern Intercollegiates in Athens, Ga. and the Steve Baras Collegiate Invitational in Chattanooga, Tenn.
