Taylor Evans was named the program’s director of operations in August 2026, as announced by Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Ben Thomas.
“I am thrilled to welcome Taylor Evans to Hokie Nation!” Thomas stated. “She brings valuable experience in the sport, which will help us continue to provide great opportunities for our student-athletes. She has competed, coached and directed operations for programs at the highest levels. We are thrilled to have her aboard!”
Evans joined Virginia Tech after more than five years at Arizona State University, where she most recently served as an Operations Program Coordinator for the Sun Devils' men's and women's cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field programs. She began the role in January 2021.
She served as the meet director for ASU's home competitions and assisted with the planning and execution of home meets, including setup, logistics and event operations.
Since January 2024, Evans has also served as an assistant coach at ASU, working with sprinters, middle-distance runners and relays while assisting with recruiting and academic oversight.
She was previously a student-athlete under Director of Track and Field Dion Miller during his tenure at Texas Tech from 2010-12. A nine-time All-American with the Red Raiders, Evans competed in the 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays, 400 meters, and later the 100 and 200 meters. She competed at five NCAA Championships during her time at Texas Tech.
Her professional experience includes a stint as director of operations for KZN Athletics in Durban, South Africa, where she managed travel and logistics for elite South African sprinters from 2016-18. She spent more than two years as a sports manager and publicist with Iwele Global Management and held a multi-year position with Altis in Phoenix.
Evans began her coaching career as a volunteer coach at Clemson University from 2014-15, working with sprints, hurdles, multis and jumps while assisting with recruiting during official visits. She later served as an assistant coach at South Mountain High School in Phoenix from 2019-21.
A Phoenix native, Evans earned her bachelor's degree in exercise and sport science and sports management from Texas Tech in 2012. She earned a master's degree in sports law and business from Arizona State University's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law in 2016 and a master's degree in law from the University of Arizona in 2021.
Evans is the daughter of ASU alumnus Dwayne Evans, who specialized in the 200 meters. Dwayne Evans won a bronze medal in the 200 meters at the 1976 Olympic Games before attending Arizona State, where he won the 1981 NCAA 200 meters championship.
She resides in Blacksburg with her son, Zolani-Parker D. Jobodwana.
