Shelbi began working at Virginia Tech in 2025. She is in a dual role serving as an embedded psychologist in athletics and as a triage clinician at the Cook Counseling Center. Shelbi graduated from Indiana University Bloomington with an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling. Shelbi earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL in 2024. Shelbi is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. Shelbi's areas of interest include substance use, eating/fueling concerns, anxiety, depression, family of origin issues, adaptation to injury, identity development, life transitions, and interpersonal relationships. Shelbi is a member of the American Psychological Association Division 47 (Exercise and Sport Psychology) and a member of the Association of Applied Sport Psychology (AASP). Shelbi's role includes providing individual and group therapy, performance enhancement, team workshops, and outreach presentations.
