Mackenzie Bowman

Sports Nutrition Graduate Assistant

Responsibilities: Bowman has primary sport oversight of Women’s Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, Men’s Tennis, and Women’s Tennis as well as secondary oversight of Baseball. Responsibilities include individual counseling, team talks, body composition analysis, Hokie Fuel Dinner menu development, planning and ordering meals, and travel nutrition.

At Virginia Tech: Hired as sports nutrition graduate assistant under director Alyson Onyon

Education: University of Delaware, 2015 (B.S. in Dietetics with a minor in Psychology and a Certificate of Business Essentials); Aramark, 2016 (Dietetic Internship); Master’s degree in Agricultural and Life Sciences with a concentration in Applied Nutrition and Physical Activity (in progress), expected graduation Summer 2021.

Prior to Virginia Tech: Bowman worked as a clinical dietitian at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD from 2017-2019 and at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE from 2016-2017.

Bowman is a member of the Collegiate and Professional Sports Dietitians Association (CPSDA) and Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. 

Personal: Bowman grew up in Wilmington, Delaware and currently resides in Blacksburg. She loves to cook, do yoga, and watch Philly sports.
