Lance Dozier

Associate AD, Revenue Strategy & Digital Innovation
Responsibilities: Dozier oversees the revenue strategy and digital innovation team, which encompasses web, email marketing, digital advertising, mobile app, SMS, social media and acquisition, while focusing on revenue generation for the external department. He manages campaigns from start to finish and strives on increasing consumers entering the funnel and ensuring completion through it with conversions.

Joined VT Athletics Staff: 2017

At Virginia Tech: Dozier started at Tech in the strategic communications office and worked in that office for four years. He worked extensively with volleyball, softball and track and field, before becoming the men’s basketball media relations contact his final two years. Switching to the digital strategy and innovation department in May 2021, Dozier worked hand in hand with the brand advancement department (video, design, photography, communications and marketing) as the project manager for items related to the football and HokieSports channels. In August 2022, he was promoted to oversee the day-to-day operations of the digital unit.

Prior to Virginia Tech: Dozier worked at Western Kentucky in the media relations/athletic communications office for two years (2015-17), starting off as an intern during the 2015-16 academic year and then being promoted to assistant in 2016-17, as he worked on his master's degree. In his final year on The Hill, he was the primary contact for women's tennis and outdoor track and field, while being the secondary contact for men's basketball. He also worked as a communications intern at Athlon Sports in Nashville, Tennessee during the 2016 summer, writing college football articles and doing research on FBS schools.

Prior to WKU, Dozier was a sports information student intern his final semester at Bethel University (Minn.) in the spring 2015. He also was a four-year letterwinner for the Royals' football team, playing the wide receiver position, and was a part of the 2013 team that won the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) championship.

Education: Bethel, 2015 (B.A. in business, human resources); Western Kentucky, 2017 (M.S. in recreation, sport administration).

Of Note: Dozier has volunteered his time at numerous sporting events, including the AutoZone Liberty Bowl and Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl, NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16 and Elite Eight for men's basketball and SEC Baseball Tournament. He worked for WKU at basketball and football Conference USA championships and tournaments and for Virginia Tech at ACC men's and women's basketball and softball tournaments and track and field championships. Dozier is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) and College Sports Communicators (CSC).

Personal: A native of Rochester, Minnesota, Dozier resides in Christiansburg.
