Team Physician
Responsibilities: Brolinson is the former head team physician and now senior member of the medical staff.  As Vice President for Research at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine he is responsible for coordinating and facilitating research activities between the two institutions.

Joined VT Athletics Staff: 2002

Prior to Virginia Tech: Brolinson came to Virginia Tech from Toledo OH where he was co-director of the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship and co-head Team Physician for the Toledo Rockets. He was also director of the “WellTrack” employee wellness program for the Toledo Hospital. Brolinson has over 35 years of clinical, administrative, and medical education experience and has participated in a wide variety of research projects as a Primary Investigator and co-investigator in several large multi-site and multi-disciplinary projects over his career. He is a member of the groundbreaking research consortium at VCOM and Virginia Tech dedicated to investigating sports related concussions in the collegiate and youth athlete populations. He has participated in projects focused on brain biomarkers and concussion as well as the use of advanced neuroimaging for study of concussion. He has an extensive background in clinical sports medicine, having worked as part of the medical staff at the 2006 Winter Games in Torino, Italy where he was Head Team Physician for the Freestyle Ski Team, and the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, BC. He’s had several leadership roles in national sports medicine organizations and speaks frequently on a wide variety of sports medicine related topics.

Personal: Brolinson and his wife, Lesia, a financial advisor, have four daughters, Natalie, Alexis, Marja and Becka.
