David Everett

Senior Associate Athletics Director, Senior Director of Major Gifts

Responsibilities: Everett is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gift prospects and donors to the Hokie Club. He also serves as a liaison for the Richmond Hokie Club.

Joined VT Athletics Staff: 1988

At Virginia Tech: Everett began his career in 1988 with the former Virginia Tech Student Aid Association directly after graduating, serving as assistant director of field services and later as athletic development manager. From 1996-1999, he served as director of development for Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business, where he led a successful $30 million campaign for the college during the university's last comprehensive campaign. In the fall of 1999, he moved back to the Virginia Tech Athletic Fund in his current role.

Education: Virginia Tech, 1988 (B.S. in finance)

Of Note: Everett played football at Virginia Tech, beginning his career under former coach Bill Dooley and concluding it under Frank Beamer in what was Beamer’s first season at Tech. Everett lettered from 1985-1987 and was the starting wingback on the 1986 Peach Bowl team that beat NC State 25-24.

Personal: A native of Emporia, Va., Everett lives in Blacksburg with his wife, Lynn, and two daughters, Kat and Jane.
