Carrie Lynne Hampton

Director, Compliance

Carrie Lynne Hampton is in her first year with Virginia Tech’s compliance office after previously serving as Senior Director of Player Engagement for the Hokies football program. In her new role, Hampton serves as the department’s liaison to Housing Services and manages on-campus housing for all student-athletes. She also oversees official and unofficial campus visits for all sports, as well as personnel limitations, complimentary admissions, and playing season guidelines.

Hampton supports the admissions and transcript evaluation process for prospective transfer student-athletes, ensuring compliance with NCAA transfer bylaws. She also assists with the development, updating, and distribution of educational materials for coaches, staff, and student-athletes. Additionally, she contributes to the daily operations of the compliance office through rules education and enforcement of NCAA, ACC, and Virginia Tech policies.

A familiar presence for Hokie student-athletes, Hampton spent three years as director of player engagement before being elevated to senior director in 2025. She led the development and implementation of Tech’s football player development program after serving as assistant director of football operations in 2021.

Prior to joining Tech’s football staff, Hampton worked with Virginia Tech’s Student-Athlete Academic Support Services (SAASS) staff as an assistant director, providing academic, personal and career support for members of the football team and spirit squads. She began her tenure with SAASS as an athletic academic advising intern in 2018 and later became tutor coordinator, hiring, training, and supervising more than 100 tutors.

A native of Wytheville, Virginia, Hampton graduated from Tech with a degree in human development in 2017 and earned a master’s degree in counseling and human development from Radford University in 2019. She is a member of the National Association for Academic Advisors of Athletics.
