Responsibilities: Bridget Brugger McSorley was promoted to Executive Associate AD/Strategic Affairs in the fall of 2023. She oversees the Athletics HR unit, leads University and departmental policy and procedure compliance strategy while serving as the liaison to University Legal Counsel, Audit, and Title IX offices. She serves as the primary sport administrator for Women's Basketball and Lacrosse. She also serves as the liaison to the University’s Office of Audit, Risk and Compliance (OARC) and FOIA. Brugger McSorley is a member of the department’s legislation and governance team. She also serves on the following committees: University Sexual Violence Culture and Climate (SVCC), ACC Women’s Basketball Committee, ACC Champions of Racial Equity (CORE) Committee, and the department’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. She is chair of the department’s SAF Committee and also serves on various campus leadership teams.

Prior to Virginia Tech: Brugger McSorley worked at James Madison University (JMU) as the Assistant Director of the Sports Medicine Department. She later served as an Associate Athletics Director and member of the senior staff at JMU while providing oversight to nine sport programs. Prior to that, she served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI). Appointed as the Senior Woman Administrator at VMI, she also served as the sport administrator for Women’s Soccer. Brugger McSorley worked as an Athletic Trainer in the Sports Medicine Departments at Penn State University (PSU) and West Virginia University (WVU). In addition to providing clinical athletic training services, she was a Lecturer/Instructor in the former CAAHEP undergraduate athletic training programs at WVU and JMU. Brugger McSorley began her career in athletics as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Penn State in 1996.

Of Note: Brugger McSorley was a Women’s Soccer student-athlete at Penn State University. She was also a NATABOC certified athletic trainer from 1996-2015. She is a member of National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and Women Leaders in College Sports (WLCS). She is a graduate of the former NACWAA/HERS Institute for Administrative Advancement (2000) and WLCS Leadership Enhancement Institute (2015).
Personal: A native of Erie, Pa., Brugger McSorley currently resides in Blacksburg, Va.. She is married to Patrick McSorley and they have three children, Morgan, Addison and Connor.
