Responsibilities: Dyer serves as the primary media relations contact for the Virginia Tech men's golf and women's golf programs. He also handles duties associated with the ACC Network at Virginia Tech.

At Virginia Tech: Dyer has handled a wide array of duties since arriving at Tech. He was the media coordinator at the 2004 NCAA Men's Golf Championship and the 2011 NCAA Men's Golf Blacksburg Regional. He has also been involved in a wide-range of events and projects undertaken by the athletics department. He has also assisted the ACC at multiple championship events.
Prior to Virginia Tech: A 35-year veteran of the sports information profession, Dyer came to Tech following two years as director of sports information at Appalachian State. He also worked as an assistant at Syracuse and Villanova and worked in the SID offices at Southeastern Louisiana, Hampden-Sydney and Florida. As an undergraduate at JMU, Dyer worked in the athletic training, sports information and recreational services departments and was a two-year member of the Marching Royal Dukes marching band.
Education: James Madison University, 1984 (B.S. in communication arts)
Of Note: Dyer is an active member of both the College Sports Information Directors of America and the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association. A frequent panelist and presenter at CoSIDA workshops, Dyer was the orientation host for CoSIDA's Jobseekers Committee for many years and currently serves as a "freshman orientation" contributor at the annual conventions. He has been the organization's Sergeant at Arms since 2008. He also served on the CoSIDA Board of Directors from 2014-18 and is currently a member of the CoSIDA Advocacy Committee. Dyer served as the Vice President of VaSID from 2006-08.
Personal: A native of Danville, Va., Dyer resides in Blacksburg. His hobbies include playing bad golf on great courses, cooking, travel, volunteering at major sporting events and rooting on the Atlanta Braves.
