Tristan Mulcahy

Associate Athletics Director, Major Gifts

Responsibilities: Tristan joined the Hokie Club in 2018 as an Associate Director of Major Gifts. In 2021, he assumed oversight of the major gift team and is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gift prospects and donors to the Hokie Club. In 2021-22, with his oversight, the major gift team brought in over $49.5 million in new gifts and commitments from over 29,000 donors. Mulcahy also oversees fundraising for men’s basketball and works closely with major donors for the football.

Joined VT Athletics Staff: 2018

Prior to Virginia Tech: Prior to joining the Hokie Club, Mulcahy worked as the director of athletic advancement at St. Bonaventure. During his four years there, he assisted with fundraising functions for annual support, capital improvements and scholarships for all 17 sports, breaking fundraising records each year. He oversaw more than 1,000 donors in the Bonnies Athletic Fund with his primary responsibility being men's basketball and its Sixth Man Club. While at St. Bonaventure, he also aided in the completion of the $2 million fields project for softball and soccer, as well as securing $500,000 for a center-hung video board at the Reilly Center.
No stranger to the ACC, Mulcahy worked at Boston College as the assistant director of development in the Flynn Fund. He also started as the development assistant for the Deacon Club at Wake Forest.

Education: Mulcahy competed as a baseball student-athlete at St. Bonaventure, where he graduated in 2010 with his bachelor's degree in sociology. He went on to earn his master's degree at California University of Pennsylvania in 2012.

Personal: Mulcahy met his wife, Andrea, at St. Bonaventure and they have three children, Harper, Declan and Landon.
