Responsibilities: At Virginia Tech, Dr. Beato is the head team physician for women’s soccer and men’s basketball, but enjoys covering all sports. When not working at his “hobby job” he is busy co-owning an independent primary care practice in Blacksburg, called Medical Associates of Southwest Virginia. As part of that practice, Dr. Beato is proud to be affiliated with MDVIP, which is a personalized, membership based Internal Medicine practice. He is on active staff and admits his own patients at Lewis Hospital Montgomery, having served in numerous leadership roles. Dr. Beato enjoys teaching medical students in his office practice and working with the fellows at Virginia Tech.

Prior to Virginia Tech: Dr. Beato completed medical school and then internal medicine residency prior to coming to Blacksburg for the Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship. He is originally from Rochester, NY and went to Mercyhurst College for sports medicine and athletic training, in Erie, PA.

Personal: Dr. Beato and his wife Susan have two active boys, Marco and Dominic. The entire family are avid sports fans, both to spectate and to play. As a family they enjoy travelling, golfing, and going to any and all Virginia Tech athletic events. Originally from Upstate New York, Dr. Beato has found a new home in Blacksburg, and looks forward to many years in Southwest Virginia.
